by Kiran Kumar H.M
Hello to evry one

I would like to connect multiple reader which are connected serial/parallel (at differnet places-in an manufactreing plant) with many Antenna's (Ex.: Alien).

My Questions are:

1. How do connect multiple reader to a single Computer system
2. How do i know which reader is reading first and with which antenna?
3. Can i interface 4-readers to a user defined Application software, How can i read all the data?
4. How do i read the data (Tags) on what basis sholud bulid the logic? (sholud i use the time factor or ?)

waiting for earliest reply

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mr Kiran
This will also depend on how much time lag is available between the tags passing the readers.
If this time is too small, then let the reader attach the time to the tag and send to the computer.

I'm dont think Alien readers are a good example because they have ethernet connectivity and are interfaced via a web browser.

If you have the ability to use rs485, you should connect the readers to an rs485 bus and then to your PC.

If you have the ability to address the reader via a specific ID, you could possibly use rs232 (if you have enough ports and you wont be too far from your terminal).

You know where the reader will be positioned on the production line, and you know the ID of that reader; so every time data comes from a reader with that ID you'll know what to expect at the readers located further along the line. The application on the PC can be used to capture the data from the serial line and execute whatever logic your application demands.

Capture as much info as you can (e.g time, date, Reader ID tag ID, tag Data, wtc.) Correlate all data based on similarities/ differences. Develop further application logic to reveal the most detail about the process at hand.
