Help in Designing RFID reader using Intel R1000
February 22, 2008, 18:14 PM by Kerry Krause
Oops, it looks like the answers were not included. Here they are again.

The output power and read distance are functions of whether you are using the internal PA or an external PA, and the performance of the antenna you use. With the internal PA you can achieve up to ~17dBm output power and depending on the antenna this gives you a read range of several cm up to ~1m. With an external PA you can have as much as 30 dBm output power and read range up to ~10m.

Yes, many designs with the Intel R1000 use an external PA. In the Intel reference design we use a PA from M/A-COM, part # MAAP-007649-000100, but other PA's can be used.

If you need additional help with your design, you can send me an email at rfidinfo@intel.com and I will connect you with someone.

Hello,
i am designing a RFID reader using Intel R1000 chipset. Following are my doubts:

1. Is there any specific maximum possible power output and read distance that can be obtain using This chipset.

<>

2.Is it possible to integrate this Chipset with external power amplifier for increasing range? please let me know about compatible power amplifier.
