RFID railroad crossing system

dear sir/mam,

i am an student and i'm proposing a project that will use rfid in railroad crossing. it will sense the tag that placed in the train and the barrier will automatically go down and onced that the train has passed by it will open again, is there any long range tag and receiver that can sense longer distance?(probably 1km away)??

Genesis,
There is a company in China doing the exactly the same thing. I believe it might be the only public company focusing on RFID technology and majority of their revenue come from this product.
