[01/11/06]
Blue Dot Solutions will leverage its mNOW! Mobile Framework to implement an active RFID-based mobile solution for Concord Security out of Vancouver, Canada. Concord Security (www.concordsecurity.com), who owns the security contract for the 460-store Metropolis at Metrotown Mall, was seeking an RFID-based mobile solution provider to enhance the level of security at one of Canada's largest malls. Blue Dot will partner with IDENTEC SOLUTIONS and implement their ILR (Intelligent Long Range) active RFID tags, which will interface with the security mobile application designed through Blue Dot's mNOW! Mobile Framework.
Blue Dot will leverage its mNOW! Application Design Tool to create the mobile RFID security tracking application, capturing such information as security guard ID, RFID tag location ID (for specific locations within the mall) and date/time information, to name a few. The mobile application data will be continuously captured on a time interval basis, and stored in an embedded database on the Psion Teklogix WORKABOUT Pro ruggedized handheld device. Once the security mobile application data is collected, it will be sent (via wireless) to the Concord Securities SmartGuard Management System, which will organize and enhance overall security functions throughout the entire Metropolis at Metrotown Mall.
"Our new RFID system will allow the security officers to be tracked throughout the building during their shift without any distractions from the guard tour system. Blue Dot's mNOW! Mobile Framework combines the best in configurable mobile applications with the latest active RFID technology." - Sandor Maradi , Operations Manager, Blue Dot.
Blue Dot will provide all the necessary components to fully implement the entire solution;
Leverage the mNOW! Application Design Tool to design the security mobile application.
Optimize and implement the mall's wireless infrastructure for hotspot sync stations, and placement of RFID tags for each individual store location within the Metropolis at Metrotown Mall.
Stage and configure the Psion Teklogix mobile devices with RFID reader cards.
Integrate the security mobile application data from Psion Teklogix mobile devices to Concord Security backend SmartGuard system.
This project demonstrates Blue Dot's continued commitment to incorporate RFID technology within the mNOW! Mobile Framework. Specifically, the mNOW! Application Design Tool will provide a GUI component to configure reading and writing to RFID tags, while integrating with mNOW!'s packaged and design-your-own mobile applications.
