NCR Corporation announced a comprehensive software suite that readily assimilates and manages data from different devices, including RFID-based technologies, throughout the supply chain.
The solution platform, NCR Velocity Portal, will debut in the NCR booth, number 1336, at the National Retail Federation Convention and Expo in New York, Jan. 15-18.
"NCR Velocity Portal provides a rapid development environment that resolves the time-consuming and costly challenge of collecting, interpreting and moving massive amounts of data from multiple sources," said NCR Vice President for Global RFID Solutions John Greaves. Addressing business operations along the supply chain, NCR Velocity Portal helps simplify the process of transmitting critical information to improve business processes and relationships among manufacturers, distributors, merchants and end-user customers, especially in the heavily data-dependent retail, travel and hospitality industries.
The NCR Velocity Portal software suite brings immediacy to data communications and analytics by delivering mission-critical information into a highly accurate and streamlined environment. The advanced software is capable of capturing, analyzing and disseminating data from automated business processes to effectively eliminate the time-consuming and complex effort normally involved with monitoring and managing devices and integrating filtered data into applications.
Operating with both traditional intent-based data collection and RFID-based pervasive data collection, NCR Velocity Portal supports a wide variety of technologies, including real-time wireless, batch systems, programmable logic controllers, personal digital assistants and more. Other benefits of NCR Velocity Portal include integrated security and user authentication, multi-lingual support based on user login, and the ability to connect to an unlimited number of data sources.
NCR Velocity Portal can also be experienced at the company's new TransitionWorks demonstration center in Atlanta. The center serves as a resource for manufacturers and retailers as they transition to business solutions driven by RFID and other technologies. The software suite also will be featured at TransitionWorks centers slated to open this year in Peterborough, UK, and Shanghai.
