In hall 5, stand A 18, ABAS, together with its sales partners, will present news concerning abas Business Software (ERP, PPC, MRP, eBusiness), a software solution for medium-sized businesses. The integration of RFID systems into abas ERP, as well as a portal solution, will be presented amongst others. Further central topics are the new Service Center, the data exchange between several production locations (MultiSite), the international focus, as well as enhancements in all function areas of abas Business Software.
RFID integrated into abas Business Software
RFID is a method to read and save data on a transponder without intervisibility and without contact. This transponder can be attached to objects, which then can be identified automatically and quickly by means of the saved data. These transponders are provided in a basic and in an intelligent form. Basic transponders only have an identification number. Further information is then for example recorded and allocated in the materials management systems by means of this number. The so called intelligent transponders save the data on the transponder itself. RFID is the generic term for the complete technical infrastructure. An RFID system includes the transponder (also RFID label, chip, tag, or radio label), the transmitter/receiver unit and the integration with servers, services and materials management systems. An RFID interface has been integrated into the current CeBIT version of the abas Business Software. RFID is already being used in numerous installations of the abas Business Software. This way products can be recorded, traced and assigned to one customer via RFID. A history can be maintained for every RFID label. Thus, at any point in time it can be traced where the goods are. The received goods are then automatically separated, for example according to product groups. The sorting with chips can also be carried out easily and quickly using RFID technology. The respective packing slips are automatically generated and all data are transferred to the abas Business Software for further processing.
Easily creating Web and company portals
In the future, the abas Portal provides users with a configurable and personalized access to abas ERP data and services, as well as other internal and external applications, such as databases, Web services or Web Applications. Using the pre-configured abas Portal, company portals can be implemented for office workers, as well as field workers, business partners and customers. The abas Portal enables fast, specific access to data which is needed frequently and to application cases (keyword "Management dashboard"). The processing of continuative or rarely used tasks can be started directly from the portal via contextual links. Many of the provided portal applications come from the ERP environment; other applications that are conform with the Java portlet specification can be integrated in addition.
ABAS Business Software with new Service Center
The Service Center supports the service technician when preparing an assignment on customer site. By using an overview of service assignments, the technician can see when and where the next assignments are planned. Using a machine specification sheet, the technician can check numerous information that are important for the assignment, such as documentation on the plant or product, warranty information, maintenance intervals or the location of the plant. For an efficient customer service it is important to have a plant history that is specific to the date. When were parts exchanged or mounted additionally, when did the last maintenance take place, which spare parts can be exchanged preemtively. The archive BOM answers these questions. The technician can thus prepare specifically and, if necessary, procure the necessary spare parts and take them to the customer. As the archive BOM can be edited, the service technician can enter the changes made to the plant himself and ensure that the data remains up-to-date. In abas eB the Service Center can be operated in the browser and can be used worldwide via the Internet. Therefore, the best requirements for proximity to customers and quality in the service business are provided.
Data exchange between several production locations (MultiSite)
The new "MultiSite" function in abas ERP enables the configurable data exchange (import and export) between abas ERP clients. The data retention takes place centrally with distribution to several clients. Transaction data is also exchanged. For example, a sales order is exported from client 1and imported as a purchase order into client 2. In the future, an external sales force connection will be available. Field workers can then have a copy of selected company clients on their laptop, if necessary, without sensitive data. The data recorded by the field worker is entered into the central company client via the configurable data exchange. The copies on the field worker's laptop are updated from time to time by using a shadow client.
Manifold function expansions
The new version of abas Business Software contains extensive innovations in many function areas. In production for example there is now the new function "combined production". It depicts by-products in the system which occur during production. In the area of the graphical user interface (GUI), a graphical screen designer is in process, the Linux GUI is also further enhanced and in the future further Linux distributors will be supported. There are further innovations and improvements in production/PPC, materials management, accounting, interfaces, database, EDI and eBusiness, amongst others.
International software for international businesses
The international orientation of the abas Business Software is also a focus of the trade fair. By using the Unicode character set, it is for example possible to depict Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic fonts. The abas Business Software is now being used in over 25 languages. About 50 abas partners provide worldwide on-site service. The continuously growing proportion of international abas installations shows that this strategy is successful. In the meantime, approx. 1/3 of all new installations are in foreign-speaking countries. In the previous year numerous new projects in Hungary, Spain, Asia and the US were thus implemented. Alone in January 2006 the Chinese abas partner ABAS Business Solutions (PRC) was able to register 5 new orders.
