WJ Communications, Inc., a leading designer and supplier of RF solutions for the wireless infrastructure and RFID reader markets, today announced that it has successfully completed interoperability testing of its multi-protocol UHF Reader Platform with Class 3 RFID tags from Intelleflex Corporation. This expands the capability of WJ's high performance reader platform to include Class 3 RFID tags in addition to EPCglobal Gen1, and C1G2 tags.
"This is a significant milestone as we continue to focus on rapidly broadening our portfolio of OEM Reader solutions and capabilities," said Bruce Diamond, President and CEO of WJ Communications. "We endeavor to offer our OEM customers complete and versatile solutions addressing multiple protocols for a wide variety of environments and applications. Class 3 readers and tags are typically intended for high value asset tracking applications. Our multi-protocol reader is capable of reading EPCglobal Class 1 Generation 2 tags as well as Class 3 tags, which gives the end user more flexibility in choosing the most cost-effective RFID solution for multiple environments."
"We are pleased to have WJ Communications, a major UHF Reader solutions provider as a partner in developing applications with a high business value. The highly capable, multi-protocol reader engine architected by WJ, coupled with the application-specific intelligence that Intelleflex embeds in the reader and tags provide an ideal platform for many vertical applications," said Richard Bravman, Chairman and CEO of Intelleflex Corp. " Applications such as asset tracking, yard management, zonal access control, etc., enabled by high-performance, long range RFID solutions, offer a compelling return on investment for customers as they seek track and trace capabilities for their assets. The backward compatibility with existing EPC standards built into Intelleflex tags and readers provide additional flexibility of mixing and matching RFID tags of different classes. We are confident of significant growth in these areas of RFID usage and look forward to continued collaboration with WJ."
