Nominees unveiled for the ID People Awards 2006

Get ready to vote: The nomination of candidates for this year's ID People Awards closed on Monday, October 16. From now until Friday, November 10, the auto ID community elects its outstanding performers of the year as twenty-five nominees go head-to-head in five categories.

ID People Awards are presented in recognition of the contribution made by thought leaders, innovators and pioneering adopters who have distinguished themselves by their achievements during the past 12 months.

The winners will be announced at a prestigious award ceremony in Milan on Tuesday, November 28. The evening will mark a fitting end to the first day of the ID World International Congress, the annual conference and exhibition on advanced automatic identification technology.

The nominees and categories are as follows:

The ID Community Award:

Assigned to the person who has most generously dedicated time and effort for the sake of supporting the activities of the ID Community.

Nominees: Anthony "Buzz" Cerino (Principal - BPS LLC), Detlef Houdeau (Head of Business Development for RFID Components and Solutions - Infineon), Reinhard Posch (CIO - Austrian Government), Conor White (CTO - Daon), David Wyld (Robert Maurin Professor of Management - Southeastern Louisiana University).

The ID Leadership Award:

Assigned to a recognized leader who catalyzed the attention of leading players, to foster initiatives that benefit the entire industry.

Nominees: Alan Estevez (Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Supply Chain Integration - US Department of Defense), Mary McMunn (Chief Facilitation Section - ICAO-FAL), Kenneth Porad (RFID Program Manager - Boeing), Kelly Richdale (Founder & Sr. VP Global Sales - A4 Vision), Roberto Tavano (VP European Security Programme - Unisys).

The ID Limelight Award:

Assigned to the person who has attracted the highest media attention for his revolutionary ideas on the possible applications of auto ID technology.

Nominees: Kevin Ashton (Vice President of Marketing - ThingMagic), Robert V. LaPenta (Chairman and CEO L-1 Investment Partners), Manfred Rietzler (CEO - Smartrac), Vic Verma (Co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer - Savi Technology), Gerd Wolfram (Managing Director - MGI Metro Group Information Technology).

The ID Trail Blazer Award:

Assigned to the person who is helping the ID Community envision what will happen in the coming generations.

Nominees: Bernard Didier (Senior Vice President, Business Development, Security Division - Sagem D?fense S?curit? Safran Group), Scott Moody (Founder, President & CEO - Authentec), Walter Mosher Jr. (Chairman & CEO - Precision Dynamics Corporation), Neville Pattinson (Director of Government Affairs - Gemalto), Fred Schramm (Administrator of the IRAD - NASA Marshall Space Flight Center).

The ID Outstanding Achievement Award:

Assigned to the person who has produced the most concrete results in the field of auto ID.

Nominees: Ali Al-Khouri (Assistant Director General - Emirates Identity Authority), Sertac ?zinal (General Director - Inter-bank Card Center BKM), G?tz Pfeifferling (IT Manager - Lemmi Fashion), James Stafford (Head of RFID - Marks & Spencer), Raymond Wong (Assistant Director - Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region).
