STS partnering with the company IKS - a software company focusing on outsourced government documentation, have developed a document tracking solution targeting the travel VISA sector - tracking travel VISA application forms.
About forty thousand Turkish citizens make requests each year for travel VISA's and IKS is responsible for ensuring the documentation process is handled efficiently and effectively.
Explains Levent Yalcinkaya, Engineering Manager for STS, "Turkish citizens must prepare specific forms when they intend to travel abroad. These forms must be transferred together during the application review process. In the past, all control processes were completed manually and were very time consuming. In addition, it was a common occurrence that the documentation accompanying the VISA travel request was incomplete. You can imagine how frustrating this would be for people who have already made international travel arrangements, only to find out that their anticipated travel VISA has been held up. There was a real need for IKS and various embassies, to implement a low-cost but highly effective solution."
IKS IT Director, Mr. Faik Sari adds, "When the customer representative receives the VISA travel request documents from a customer, we attach a low-cost Alien Squiggle inlay to each of the three documents in a customers' file. At various process stations, we have mounted an Alien ALR-8800 passive reader/writer which will then verify and correctly identify the tagged documentation. Our application parameters required us to read up to 60 tagged documents at once, representing twenty customers - the Alien reader accomplishes this task effortlessly. The reader confirms that all three tagged documents are in a customers' VISA request file, with each tagged file having been preprogrammed with a unique serial ID number. So now we know in seconds that each customer's file contains the three correct types of forms required to process the VISA travel request. We have conducted some extensive ROI calculations and found that up to 70% of time is being saved in comparison to using our previous bar code solution, and we are now optimizing a process with the highest efficiency."
