RF Code will also be participating in a panel discussion as part of the Enterprise IT Asset track of sessions at the trade show. Greg Bryett, VP, Technical Services, will be a member of a distinguished group of panelists who will examine "Asset Tracking in the Data Center and Beyond."

The Importance of Asset Tracking

Asset tracking, an important part of an overall asset management strategy, is emerging as a key to an organization's overall financial strategy. Lost or misplaced assets cost companies millions to replace. Moreover, many companies end up paying on service agreements or leases for assets that have gone missing. Overprovisioning costs as well.

Therefore, the Zone Manager/IBM Tivoli Maximo integration will play an important role in helping companies more effectively and efficiently manage their assets.

About the Integrated Zone Manager/IBM Tivoli Maximo solution

Through RF Code's Zone Manager, IBM Maximo will have live and up-to-the-minute asset inventory and location information, rendering an accurate count of tagged assets and their location.

RF Code's Zone Manager is a real-time location engine for use with RF Code active RFID hardware (tags and readers). By collecting and analyzing tag and reader data, Zone Manager determines the rack-level or zone-level location of each asset tag. Zone Manager's programmatic and subscription interfaces allow external applications to easily obtain inventory and location data. Zone Manager's integration with IBM Tivoli Maximo allows Zone Manager information to flow seamlessly into Tivoli Maximo to represent real asset location within Maximo. The following active RFID asset tag information is exchanged:

-- Current location

-- Location changes

-- Status changes (online or offline)

-- Extended tag information such as: motion, tamper, low battery

-- Temperature readings from temperature sensor tags

-- Door status readings from door switch tags
