A uniform RFID infrastructure that authorizes users contactlessly at doors, PCs, printers, and other applications with the help of a card or a key fob has great appeal due to its safety, efficiency, and small maintenance overhead.

Now, existing components in the office and on a company's entire premises can be upgraded easily to form a consistent campus solution.

The TXN3 RFID reader family from Elatec enables retrofitting RFID capability on existing equipment and applications in a simple way. The TWN3 reader is available in versions for all common RFID standards. This allows expanding an already existing RFID infrastructure directly to include the new components.

As the size of a company campus grows so does the number of different authorizing solutions: Door keys and magnet strip cards for entry, user identification and passwords for workstations, PIN keypads for printers and copiers, chip or money cards for coffee machines and cafeterias. Replacing these consistently with contactless identification systems makes for safety, convenience of use, and reduced maintenance overhead. Using the TXN3 RFID reader family from Elatec, system integrators and solution providers can now realize end-to-end campus solutions based on industry-proven RFID standards. The TNW3 reader connects to hardware or peripheral devices as an internal reader or in an external enclosure using a USB or RS232 interface. This enables building turnkey system solutions just as effectively as retrofitting an existing equipment pool on-site.

Rely on one card - easy with the TWN3

If the organization has already invested in RFID technology, expanding the solution across the campus to cover all applications can be done especially efficiently. If, for instance, RFID staff ID cards for access authorization or multifunction printers are already in circulation, TWN3 readers can expand their range of use in a flexible way. The individual TNW3 variants cover virtually all common RFID standards on both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz: HID PROX, HID iCLASS, INDALA 125 kHz Multitags (EM410x, HITAG-1, HITAG-2, HITAG-S, EM4150, T5567, Q5), MIFARE (Ultralight, 1k, 4k, DESFire) as well as LEGIC (advant und prime).

Flexible integration for campus-wide use

Using a virtual COM port, the TWN3 reader provides the connected device with a full range of transponder functions. This enables implementing and executing complex operations just as easily as centralized device link-up for sophisticated user account control. Offline use of the RFID component is also possible. The TWN3 reader can be preconfigured via script for autonomous read and write access operations. Moreover, a keyboard emulation mode is available for entirely configuration-free operation where data of identified transponders in passed on to the connected device in the form of keyboard input. This enables integrators to benefit from maximum flexibility and functionality when employing the TWN3 RFID reader family for RFID integration, allowing them to build and operate integrated campus solutions efficiently and effectively.
