HID Global recently announced that Mario Pucciarelli, sales manager for Italy, Spain and Portugal, Identification Solutions (IDS), at HID, will speak on how RFID can be a technological enabler that supports reduced costs, asset visibility and compliance during the upcoming ID WORLD International Congress 2009. Scheduled from the 3rd to 5th November at the Milanofiori Congress Center in Milan, Italy, this event is the annual conference and exhibition on advanced automatic identification technology that attracts significant numbers of industry leaders and senior government representatives.

With more than 10 years industry expertise in RFID identification technologies, Pucciarelli has been involved in a wide variety of RFID projects, including laundry, supply chain logistics, automation, livestock identification and food traceability. At HID, Pucciarelli has aided the company's sales and adoption of RFID tagging technology within Italy, Spain and Portugal. HID's leadership position in contactless RFID technologies is due to its exceptional product quality, extensive development history and innovation expertise combined with the company's close relationships to system integrators and customers with unique use applications.

With a growing worldwide trend to implement whole-of-life traceability systems for livestock, government agencies are mandating identification technologies to meet higher safety standards in farming, while farmers are discovering how identification can improve farm management practices. Demonstrating how RFID tracking is a core technology used within the intersection of logistics and food, Pucciarelli's presentation is entitled: "Contactless Identification for a Safe and Efficient Food Supply Chain," and includes:

  • Examining the key benefits of RFID technology in various phases of a secure food chain operation for specific applications and its positive impact for industry players

  • An overview of RFID deployments that support a secure food chain

  • Identifying effective strategies to optimize the use of RFID technology to ensure food safety

  • Featured cases that highlight asset tracking and returnable transport times for livestock identification, food manufacturing automation, food processing and equipment management.
