PositiveID and its development partner RECEPTORS recently announced that Receptors' patented CARA (combinatorial artificial receptor array) technology was recently published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, a peer-reviewed scientific journal. Receptors' CARA platform technology is the foundation of the development of the Company's glucose-sensing RFID microchip and rapid virus detection system for the H1N1 virus and other pandemic viruses. PositiveID has the exclusive licenses to Receptors' Patent No. 7,504,364 titled "Methods of Making Arrays and Artificial Receptors" and Patent No. 7,469,076 "Sensors Employing Combinatorial Artificial Receptors," as used in these applications.

The paper, entitled "Small Molecule-Based Binding Environments: Combinatorial Construction of Microarrays for Multiplexed Affinity Screening," Weller Roska et.al., J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2009, 131 (46), pp 16660-16662, documents the construction of Receptors' CARA platform and the application of the array to differentiation of proteins based on their binding patterns, and can be read here.

The Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), founded in 1879, is the flagship journal of the American Chemical Society and the preeminent journal in the field. The periodical is devoted to the publication of fundamental research papers in all areas of chemistry, providing research essential to the field.
