SmartTask Attend, a simple-to-use electronic call monitoring system, has been selected to help drive an increase in recorded patient care and a reduction in administration overheads.

LAMH plans initially to roll out the time and attendance system to 75 of its support workers who are responsible for providing care to adults with severe and/or enduring mental health problems in the area. It will replace a paper-based system to provide an accurate picture of all completed appointments, as well as automate administrative processes such as timesheets that had previously been completed manually.

Furthermore, as part of the Scottish Mental Health Cooperative, an organisation representing ten local mental health associations in Scotland, LAMH will share its successes with all members as part of its commitment to joint working and the sharing of best practice for its 500 plus care workers operating across Scotland.

SmartTask Attend uses the latest Near Field Communication (NFC) and RFID attendance technology installed on BlackBerry Curve 9360 and Blackberry 9900 devices to allow carers to electronically log attendance. As a result, the carer simply has to swipe their phone over a tag or label unique to the service users home to record arrival and departure times, with details sent to the SmartTask Attend web portal. The system also possesses the functionality to capture QR Codes via a mobile device's camera as an alternative means of recording carer workflow.

Hugh Cairns, Regional Manager at Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health commented: "We are committed to enhancing service standards across our operation, so we are actively identifying leading-edge solutions that can help us better monitor and manage care delivery in our community. SmartTask Attend will provide the necessary insight to increase the time spent with service users, whilst streamlining our operation to achieve efficiencies."

Paul Ridden, Managing Director of Skillweb, said: "With the increasing pressure on healthcare organisations to provide more care with less resources, SmartTask Attend is an ideal tool to not only demonstrate compliance but also reduce administration time spent producing time sheets and prove service delivery. We are working closely with Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health to highlight the benefits of the solution and achieve measurable benefits to their service users."
