Work-In-Progress Control With RFID
Vaillant Group is one of the world's leading manufacturers of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology.
The company, based in Remscheid, Germany, develops and manufactures products across a product portfolio ranging from efficient heating appliances based on customary fuels to system solutions for using regenerative energy sources.
At Vaillant Group's manufacturing plant in Belper, Derbyshire, UK, domestic & industrial boilers are manufactured for the UK and Netherlands. Managing work in progress is an important issue for Vaillant Group, helping them to control costs and ensure product quality. They chose an approach using UHF RFID and worked with CoreRFID to make their automated production management system a reality. |

Cost-Benefit Analysis of an RFID Asset Tracking System
This paper outlines the cost?benefit analysis of using UHF RFID technology in an asset?tracking application. To facilitate the analysis, RFID will be compared against the incumbent technology, bar?coding. An experiment comparing these two technologies was conducted, and the findings from this experiment are further analysed. This document aims to inform the reader of the potential labour savings unlocked through the implementation of RFID processes in an asset tracking business activity. The designed experiment tries to quantify definite time savings, which directly lead to significant labour cost savings. |

Datanet Asia Pacific - Curbside Recycling Bin Tracking
Historically, city councils in Australia pay their rubbish collection contractors according to the number of households in the area. The problem is not every household puts hteir bin out every week and councils are effectively paying the contractor for uncollected bins. So councils are mandating their rubbish contractors use RFID tags to record every bin emptied and charge the Council accordingly. |

Maximizing Waste Management Efficiency through the Use of RFID
Much attention has been given to our environment, the need to be more efficient and reduce the negative impact we have on it. Websites are dedicated to helping you measure your carbon footprint and provide tips to be more 'green'. For example, the Yahoo Green site notes each person produces roughly 4.5 lbs of waste a day. Though that seems like a macro example, what about the impact each household has on the environment with the amount of waste we throw into our trash cans or recycling bins? |

RFID Technology for Automatic Weighing and Identification of Railway
ArcelorMittal has implemented a fully automated weighing system to weigh and identify railway wagons and units using the RFID technology. The wagon weighing and identification system is thus fully automatic and unattended. The system is the result of the joint effort of Tamtron, manufacturer of railway weighing systems, and Barco, RFID and barcode integrator. |

Asset Tracking and Data Logging for Mini Tankers On-site Diesel Refuelling Service
Through-out New Zealand Mini-Tanker franchisees provide on-site diesel refuelling direct into customer equipment. A key performance requirement is the accurate identification of each piece of equipment, regardless of its location (regularly changing) and the environment (mud, corrosive petrochemicals). Mini Tankers wanted to eliminate data errors in the identification of assets that receive fuel, improve the speed and accuracy of data capture in the field and reduce back office administration associated with fuel management. |

ILR Brings Visibility To Container Flow
Vokswagen AG uses RFID active tags to track 10,000 containers used for stamped parts for VW Golf. The benefits of the system are: enable advanced planning for optimal use of the stamping machine; reduce cost involved in machine down-time, back-up packaging and extra trips due to missing containers; save on effort and expense. |
